Here is another addition to the paint brush game. This goofy one is done on acetate with oil pastels.
9" x 12"
23cm x 31cm
graphite, watercolor, collage
Vivien has started a challenge to draw a simple, readily available set of objects that lie as near at hand! I've seen her beautiful drawings of paint brushes before and did not feel moved to try this. But now that I've done it, I realized how much fun it is to draw a brush with character! Thanks Vivien for the gentle nudge to try something new.
That brown wrapper contained my new curved needles to sew up coptic bindings. These needles arrived her all the way from the United Kingdom!

I like your little painting a lot!
Are the brown papers collaged on?
Lovely loose watercolour, Lindsay. Beautiful colours too and I love the collage element. I think this was a brilliant idea of Vivien's.
Thanks Robin. It was really fun and I want to do it with my daughter's make up brushes.
Woops, thanks Toni. Yes, the paper was collaged on and I used clear gesso over the waxed paper so it would hold the water color. I also used a bit of opaque color on the waxed paper too.
Lovely! What are those labels by the way?
Thanks mithi. They are the waxed paper packages that the needles came in. I collaged them on.
this is lovely! I love the collaged elements - bloglines hasn't been listing your posts properly (I've reinstalled you) and I've missed lots of interesting stuff!
love the recent waterways stuff too
Thanks Vivien. I'm thinking I should just install a Google banner on my blog for your site because I want to try feathers like yours too! The feeling is mutual about "interesting stuff". Thanks.

Awww. Parisa, thanks! Maybe you can come next year!
Wonderful Lindsay! I like them both a lot, but the bottom one is really a stunning painting. Hmm, maybe I'll have to try that one!
