The idea for this book grew (no pun intended) out of the news about
Norway's Seed Bank. I wanted to create my own Idea Creative Bank Book. I've used real seeds, chiffon, paper envelopes cut to the shape of a seed envelope, grommets, green wool, watercolor, marker, embroidery and stamps. Craig agreed this was the best way to present the book. I'm thinking that an even better way to present the book would be to mount it in a glassless frame. What do you think?

We have about 2 weeks to create these little books and more than half the time, I'm thinking of ideas!

Gesa was asking if I had any PDF's for my class that related to the structures, but my teacher is working with only a few hand outs and mostly demonstrates our books step by step. But I have found a book that almost duplicates the first half of our class, in terms of book structures. It's The Essential Guide to Making Handmade Books by Gabrielle Fox. This author describes many of the small tips that our teacher covered in class and has especially clear instructions.

What an interesting way of making a book!! I like the iea of preserving seeds, too.
You may want to check your link to the book titl. I get a link to the Norway seed project when clicking on the book link.
The combination of chiffon and paper gives it both an ethereal and substantial feel. Appears very tangible without a frame.
Thanks Bonny and Penhallow! I'll check the links Bonny. I've been out of town and just got back!
Oh - lovely idea and I'll check out the book once the link is back working... that'll be very useful... I've almost finished my prototype for the project and will post that over the weekend... just made a 'cover' from one of the envelopes... there's no end to what to do with found papers ;)
Hi Lindsay
I have not forgotten you. Soon I can start thinking about our book exchange.
Your seed book is unique. I would leave it hang just as you picture it especially if you don't mind people flipping the pages.
Toni, thanks for you nice words. I figured with all you have going on that you'd be busy for awhile. Any time you are ready, just let me know. Should we have a theme? Word???
Hah... now it's finally ordered... I agree with your comment on wm... the linopoetry calls for a book. Thanks for the great suggestion!
Hey, how fun Gesa!
