All doctor's office should include the following:
1)A waterfountain and/or fish tanks
2)REAL plants
3)Art materials (Luckily I had mine!)
4)Live acoustic music: harp, flute, guitar
5)Shoulder massage therapist
6)Meditation or prayer corner
7)Really great books and magazines
8)Original art work (not the generic stuff I usually see)
I wonder how this would affect healing if doctors thought of this stuff too:Mind, spirit AND body.
Well, at least my annual boob squeezing monogram is over!

as one who visits the doctor aplenty, oh how I wish! though I think between the massage therapist and great books I'd no get a sketch out of the visit
like your sketch, must say your doctor has better looking chairs to draw then mine!
So nice to see Cin here, because I admire both of your doctors' office sketches very much. This is excellent, Lindsay. You seem so peaceful for someone who was waiting be squeezed ;D.
I like your suggestions for a really nice doctor's office.
I'd say you made excellent use of a really unpleasant experience.
great sketch and I will pass the "all doctors' offices should include list" to my medical husband and his cronies!! I so agree.!!LOL I am impressed that you dared to get out your sketch book and draw whilst waiting... I always carry mine with me, but never dare...!!!

LOVE the sketch! And the sentiment -- imagine -- the doctor's office as a REAL place of healing! Novel idea!
Lindsay, would you believe I actually had an OB/GYN like that? She had beautiful original artwork on the walls (some by local artists), an interesting mix of relaxing music, real plants, and pictures of some very cute guys pinned up on the ceiling over the exam tables! She delivered both of our kids--unfortunately for us she has moved on and practices in an American Indian reservation now. That's a nice sketch--I'll bet it helped time to pass quicker while you waited too.
I read somewhere that 80% of the time when we see the doctor the cause of our distress is mind and spirit affecting body. The other 20% is a bug or virus or something's broken.
If doctors followed this wonderful list of yours, they'd be doing 80% less work, I'll bet.
