When I take the train in the morning, I've tried drawing what's around me but I'm chickening out lately. I'm too sleepy to feel brave and also, I worry about some people getting offended. So, what I've started to do is to cut out little pictures from magazines and copy them on the train ride. I can usually finish one of them in the time it takes to get to work. I can still get some practice working out proportions and composition and still keep my privacy intact.

You are full of great ideas! I am chicken to draw in public too (because my sketches of people can be pretty unflattering-what if they want to see?!). Usually I cower in my car and draw what I can from there.
What a great idea. The only way I can draw in public is on postits when no one's looking. And this one came really good!
You definitely have an eye for capturing on your paper what you see so don't be afraid to practice on live drawings,it really does improve with each one you do!
i enjoyed looking at your pictures. i dont have naything witty to say or anything. just thanks for sharing.
What a fantastic idea! (and great drawing, too, by the way.) I am always at a loss of what to draw on the bus. Everything zips by so quickly or it is close by and can stare back at you! I don't know why I didn't think of bringing pictures of some sort. So simple! Sometimes I make up drawings from my head, but I'm not always in the mood for coming up with ideas. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful! And what a wonderful idea!
